Suffolk family photography, Sudbury

Sudbury, Suffolk Family Photography

I really enjoyed this Suffolk family photography mini-session at the Sudbury water meadows a little while back. The sweet little girl in the photos is River, who was a natural! River had a great time twirling around barefoot in a carpet of daisies. We got some lovely shots!

If you have a child who won’t sit still and pose for photos for more than a minute, that’s absolutely fine. My family photography is all about capturing children being themselves and interacting with you in a beautiful, natural way. The way you want to remember them in years to come. (…and we will wisely use that golden minute for a quick family photo!).

It’s also really cute for young children to bring along their favourite teddy to the session. It will be lovely for both you and them to have photographic evidence of their favourite teddy/toy. If they’re shy it will also help them to have that extra bit of security from home.

Another tip for young child or family sessions is to bring (non-sugary) snacks/treats which can be offered at short intervals. I find it’s best if children actually forget they’re at a photo-shoot. If they feel pressure to sit/stand unnaturally still to get the shots that Mum/Dad want they are more likely to act out. From experience, at photo sessions where the children are relaxed and feel like they are having a fun time, they are more likely to co-operate for short bursts of time to get the photos you want (this means real smiles, not their smile-for-the-camera-smile).
